A curriculum is not the sole component of any educational system. Implementing extra-curricular activities in the school’s program is one of the most distinguishing features of an effective and distinct educational system.
Extra-curricular activities engage students in extensions of non-academic experiences that are conducted in the afternoon under the school auspices. Al Mayadine International School is highly concerned with offering such experiences to students. It provides an array of extra-curricular activities such as drama, computer, team sports, and art. A considerable number of researches have studied the importance and benefits of youth participation in extra-curricular activities. They assist students in building self esteem and developing social skills. Participating in extra-curricular activities develops the student's talent in arts or sport. By becoming skilled at it, he receives recognition and appreciation that boost his self-esteem. It also enhances student’s acquisition of social awareness. He learns how to become a responsible citizen by following rules. He will shed shyness or inferiority as he learns to adjust well in a group.
